DIPLOMA DESCRIPTION

The holder of this diploma will have acquired the General Competence with regard to:

Fitting and maintaining telecommunication infrastructures in buildings, low voltage electrical installations, electric machines, and automated systems, applying current legislation, quality, safety, and labour risk protocols, guaranteeing their functionality and respect for the environment.


RANGE OF OCCUPATIONS ACCESSIBLE TO THE HOLDER OF THE DIPLOMA

The Technician in Electrical and Automatic Installations works in small and medium enterprises, mostly private, in charge of fitting and maintaining telecommunication infrastructures in buildings, electric machines, automated systems, low voltage electrical installations, and home automation systems, either being self-employed or an employee.

Name of the awarding body:
Spanish Ministry of Education or the different Autonomous Communities according to their areas of competence. The title has academic and professional validity throughout Spain.

Official duration of the education/training leading to the diploma:
2000 hours.

Level of the diploma (national or international):

  • NATIONAL: Post-Compulsory Secondary Education
  • INTERNATIONAL:
    • Level 3 of the International Standard Classification of Education (ISCED3).
    • Level ______ of the European Qualifications Framework (EQF__).

Entry requirements:
Holding the Certificate in Compulsory Secondary Education or passing the corresponding access test.

Access to next level of education/training:
This diploma may provide access to Higher Technical Cycles provided that an entrance exam is passed.

Summary of Learning Outcomes for Each Module:

  1. Industrial Automatisms (13 ECTS)
    The holder learns to interpret technical documentation for machining operations, configure and install basic control and power circuits, and troubleshoot electrical installations. They develop skills in diagnosing and repairing malfunctions, installing automatic programmable control systems, and ensuring compliance with safety and environmental standards.

  2. Electronics (7 ECTS)
    The student gains an understanding of various electronic circuits, including combinational and sequential logic, rectifiers, power supplies, amplifiers, and oscillators. They develop the ability to recognize circuit characteristics and applications and verify the correct functioning of power electronic systems.

  3. Electrotechnics (11 ECTS)
    The holder acquires skills in calculating electrical magnitudes in direct and alternating current circuits, understanding electromagnetism principles, and working with transformers and electric machines. They also learn to assess electrical risks and apply appropriate protection mechanisms.

  4. Interior Electrical Installations (18 ECTS)
    The student develops competencies in installing residential and commercial electrical systems, ensuring compliance with low voltage regulations. They prepare technical reports, perform maintenance tasks, and verify the commissioning of installations.

  5. Distributed Electrical Installations (10 ECTS)
    The holder learns to identify and configure electrical distribution systems, including transformation centers and overhead and underground low-voltage networks. They carry out installation and maintenance tasks while adhering to safety and environmental regulations.

  6. Common Telecommunication Infrastructures within Houses and Buildings (8 ECTS)
    The student acquires skills in configuring and installing telecommunications systems in buildings, troubleshooting faults, and maintaining installations according to technical specifications and regulatory requirements.

  7. Home Automation Installations (8 ECTS)
    The holder learns to install, configure, and maintain automated systems in homes, including control and technical systems. They diagnose and repair malfunctions using appropriate measurement techniques.

  8. Photovoltaic Solar Installations (8 ECTS)
    The student develops competencies in configuring and installing photovoltaic solar systems, ensuring their proper functioning and connection to the grid, and performing preventive and corrective maintenance tasks.

  9. Electric Machines (8 ECTS)
    The holder gains skills in the installation, maintenance, and repair of single-phase and three-phase transformers and rotary electric machines, ensuring their correct operation through testing and adjustment procedures.

  10. Professional Training and Guidance (5 ECTS)
    The student learns about job search strategies, teamwork, employment rights and obligations, social security, and risk prevention measures in the electrical installations field.

  11. Business and Entrepreneurial Initiative (4 ECTS)
    The holder acquires knowledge about entrepreneurship, business planning, legal and administrative aspects of running a small business, and basic financial management.

  12. On the Job Trainin (22 ECTS) 
    The student applies acquired skills in real work environments, participating in installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting tasks while following established procedures and quality standards.
